Every 4 years again – energy audit obligation for non-SMEs

14. November 2018

Important events are casting their shadows: there are already a number of dates in the calendar for 2019. For example, the Women’s World Cup in France in June. Or the European elections in May. Alexander von Humboldt’s 250th birthday is coming up in August. But what is even more important in the coming year for all larger companies in Germany: the four-year period for mandatory energy audits is coming to an end!

The companies that were considered non-SMEs in 2015 and had to carry out an energy audit according to DIN EN 16247-1 for the first time will have their turn next year! According to the Energy Services Act, a repeat audit should have been carried out by December 2019 at the latest.

Is your company included? Or do you perhaps no longer fall under the SME definition for the first time since last year and have to carry out an audit for the first time? Then secure an appointment for the 2019 energy audit with one of our certified energy auditors early on. Experience has shown that the deadlines for carrying out an energy audit towards the end of the year are getting shorter and shorter.

Alternatively, you can implement an energy management system in your company. We will be happy to help you with this as well.

So that you are well informed and are not surprised by the deadlines, we have summarized everything you need to know about the energy audit in our information paper on the energy audit.
